The password to the Character Creation board is: enchantment
NOTE: There are two secret messages in this post that are very important. One is the phrase that you must put at the END of your character application so we can be sure you read the rules. The other is the password to get into the ceremony to begin with.
Rules are subject to change if any Admins or Mod see fit.
Rules
1) Registering
1a) Make an account with your character's first and last name. No ILuvSiriusBlack143 or IRule666. The name must be first and last. No middle name. Then your account name will be too long.
1b) Try and be original with your character's names. Attempt to stay away from the 'Firestar Darklight's and 'Dreallian McGrillin's -__-
1c) Anyone who signs up and then erases their email address will be automatically deleted. That is because people don't get important E-Mails when they do that (and we do like our mass e-mail feature here at [AA] Apophis Academy!)
1d) You may have as many accounts as you want, but make sure to keep up with them. Also pm an admin when you want to delete one or you create a second.*
1e) Please make sure you are 13 or above when you register. This rule has been set by Proboards. Not us.
2) Characters
2a) Please keep in mind that this is a freeform roleplay, meaning no canon characters permitted. This means no Harry Potter's second cousin, Voldemorts long lost daughter, or even along the lines of Dumbledore's third brother twice removed, etc.
2b) You must follow the general laws of the Wizarding World. That means no new magical creatures can be made up. There are some exceptions, but you must ask an admin first. There are, however, a wide variety of exceptions for abilities and traits your character can possess that any normal Harry Potter RPG would not allow. This is just another example of [AA] Apophis Academy's exceptional freeform roleplay!
2c) Do not use some one else's character image. If you need to find what image isn't used yet go here. Highlite the very top of this post to discover the password into the Character Creations board. If you choose and character image and do not claim it, do not pm the person who did claim the image and attack them.
2d) There are some important issues about characters that you should know about. Firstly, the perfect people aren't welcome. In other words, no Mary Sues or Gary Loues. No one is perfect, magical or not.
2e) If you chose to have you character get pregnant or die you MUST contact an admin. We can't have babies popping out of everyone, and others dropping like flies.
2f) Levels:
Full Witch/Wizard : Completely educated witch/wizard capable of performing all known spells. First part of Secret Phrase: 'Oh my, the'' -Highest level of power. To become a full witch/wizard, one must either be a graduate of Apophis Academy of Witchcraft & Wizardry, or an extremely active Professor.
Sentinel : Guard of Apophis Academy of Witchcraft & Wizardry. Able to perform most known spells. -Powerful and able to punish those who do not follow the rules. Sentinels are not always Professors; exceedingly active students are also capable of receiving Sentinel positions.
Witch/Wizard : Able to perform common spells. –More than likely a current student of Apophis Academy of Witchcraft & Wizardry or a shop owner/employee.
3) Posting
3a) No one sentence posts. There is no point to them. They have no imagination. They don't have to be seven paragraphs long, but give them some weight. Give someone reading the topic insight on your character. Maybe they will want to post with you. You never know. The boards are cut down in size because of the resizing codes used, so it shouldn't be too hard for you guys to churn out several very-good quality posts. UPDATE: The requirement for posting at the MINIMUM is three paragraphs with six sentences in each. This does not include speaking parts unless that speaking part exceeds two lines. This will be enforced to encourage new members.
3b) When it comes to posting do not change the font type. Weird font types are hard to read. Don't change the sizes, or aligns either. The size of the posts are set at that size for easy reading, and books don't have stories in the middle of a page or off to the right. You are not writing poems and we are not writing in Chinese. Do not change the colors of the font. We choose this color because it nice on the eyes. In the plot charts, signatures, scrapbook/journals, and OOC forums you can do what you please.
3c) Apophis Academy is NOT an 'R-rated' forum so register if you agree the terms only. Sexual and Mature content must kept at a PG-13 level, otherwise do not join. Second part of Secret Phrase: 'beastly wizarding hat,' Violence, Mature, etc. are allowed. So please do not join if you can't handle it. However there are strict guidelines and limitations to these and you must know when it's getting beyond an 'PG-13' rating.
3d) No powerplaying! This means no controlling any other player's creations in any way. NPCs (non playable characters) of course may be powerplayed since no one uses them on any account, but only if those NPCs are solely your ideas.
3e) Students are not allowed to enter the places labeled 'Forbidden', though they do anyway. It is too strange to have an entire group of people camping out in that forum. You are subjecting yourself to being caught by a Sentinel or Professor if you post in the forest.
3f) On other boards I have seen many posters not producing quality results because of 'writers block'. Writers block is lack of creativity or/and inspiration. I know more than anyone else that roleplayers experience this phenomenon frequently and yes, I know it happens. What can ya do? But if 'writer's block' happens here on a frequent basis, you will be warned. This is not because we staffers are mean and heartless, but honestly, don't post unsatisfactory posts. It makes everyone here look bad, not just your topic.
4) Signatures and Avatars
4a) Please no pornographic photos in your signature. This is a Proboards rule. And there are 13 year olds on the site and it's flatly just general respect. I think everyone pretty much knows this.
4b) Avatars are 100x100 or smaller. Not bigger. Signatures can not exceed 450x300. If caught with one that exceeds no warning will be handed out, the said signature will simple be removed. Avatars are REQUIRED. You MUST have one. It can either be an anime or a celebrity (real person) however if it is scrunched or desized, it will be removed and you will be asked to find another or edit the size of the one you have. This is to ensure a nice look to our boards.
4c) You must give credit to the maker if you use a work of someone else. Third part of Secret Phrase: 'has tied my shoe laces together!') If we realize that you didn't give credit, you'll be warned. Another offense, a ban will be issued. That is called plagiarism and is against the law. Highlite the space above this page for the password.

FAQ
These are questions that have either appeared in the questions section, or have been asked via pm, msn, or any other messenger system more than once. If there is a particular question here with an answer that you don't quite understand, please feel free to pm one of the administrators, and we'll gladly try to help you further. If you would like an answer to a question that does not appear on this list, please post that question in the Suggestions/Comments/Concerns/Questions topic.
How do I get started? Simple. The Rules & Regulations forum lists everything you need to know about getting started on Apophis Academy.
How does the Placing System work? The placing system on Apophis Academy isn't dissimilar to the one found in the Harry Potter books. Which house you belong in is decided by the Admins. We evaluate your character bio, and depending on the personality you have submitted, we place you in the most fitting house. Remember, we do not take kindly to members who mention certain characteristics, or anything like that in order to be placed in the house they prefer. Those members will often get moved into another house if we feel they are trying to force a particular decision. Please try to be an individual.
How long will it take for me to be placed and approved?
This depends on a variety of factors, such as how many admins are online at the time, how many bios were posted before yours that had not yet been approved, and whether the admin who chooses to review your bio thinks there needs to be changes made to it. The best suggestion for getting your bio approved as fast as possible is making it as thorough as possible and adhering to all the rules regarding what you can and cannot put in your bio.
Can I choose my own year? No. Apophis Academy does no longer go by 'years', as it has become too big of a hassle in the past to keep track of.
What's my warning level? A warning level is a bar under your user stats that only you and the staff of the board can see. It indicates how many times you've been warned for breaking any of the general RPG guidelines/rules and/or Board TOS. After a certain amount of warns, your account will be suspended until further notice.
How do you choose RPG staff members? To be a member of staff in the RPG, members can either apply to become a Scholar (Professor) or an Anubys Employee. The Sentinels will be chosen at the admin's discretion and are not up for 'grabs'.
What are Sentinels and how are they chosen? Members cannot apply for these positions. Once in a while, we scroll through the list of members and choose people who represent this board in a humble, genuine way. We pick based on activeness, quality of posts, and a generally positive attitude. Sentinels', in the RP, are students who represent the student body of Apophis. They are also considered a minor part of the staff. You could compare them to the Head Boy and Head Girl positions in Hogwarts, but there may be more than one Sentinel per house, while at the same time none for another.
How come there are no ghost characters, like in the books? The Ghosts will make an appearance shortly, but are currently not available to be applied for as characters.
How come I can't have optic blasting powers or control of the weather but I can be a vampire? That's simple. It's because we didn't make an X-Men RPG, we made a Magic School. Yes, Apophis is unique in the fact that we allow such things as elementals and other peculiar abilities, but we are still making sure to remain clear of accidentally creating the X-Men all over again.
Why are there so few teachers? Many staff positions are open because members find it challenging to play a Scholar. However, after sending in an application even new members can become a Scholar; it is greatly encouraged. If you wish to know which positions are open, please check it out here.
How do I get an Avatar? What are suitable choices? Take an image that you have selected and save it on your PC. From there, submit it to a photobucket account (create one if you don't have one). Next, go to "Profile" and paste the URL into the blank space provided. After clicking on "Update", your new image should appear. Avatars permitted are of people that look between the ages of ten and twenty, for students. They must be real people or anime. Avatars are now required. It cannot be scrunched or smushed. Take the time to edit it in Paint if you need to.
Why can't I view my common room? If you are a member of a certain house (Hor-behedet, Hor-pa-kraat, Hor-akhuti) yet have no access to the corresponding common room, or have access to the wrong one, there is a mistake in your permission masks and you must pm an Admin to fix it for you.
